Ryanair flight bookings rise for holiday weekend

Hundreds of thousands of people are travelling abroad for the Bank Holiday weekend, and unsurprisingly, mostly to sunnier destinations.

Ryanair has experienced an increase of 45% in passengers on last years long weekend.

Enda O’ Toole of Ryanair said: "We’re almost choc-a-block right across the whole network, with over 95% of our seats sold this weekend and, believe it or not, even with the poor weather people are flocking in here."

Bus Eireann also expects to carry up to 100,000 passengers on all its routes around the country over the weekend.

Irish Ferries report that 45,000 people will travel between Ireland and Britain for the weekend break.
