Call for public inquiry into 1976 murder

A group which monitors current affairs in the Celtic countries has backed calls for a full public inquiry into the murder of a Co Louth forestry worker 26 years ago.

The Celtic League said there are substantial allegations that Seamus Ludlow was murdered by loyalist paramilitaries who may have had links to the British security services.

Former Attorney General Rory Brady recently instructed the Co Louth Coroner to hold an inquest into the 1976 killing.

The Celtic League has long supported calls by the Ludlow family for an independent investigation of his death.
