A 16-year-old boy with 78 previous convictions and another youth robbed £37,500 punt from a Securicor van after viciously assaulting the guard transferring the money, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has heard.

The young criminal, from the north inner city, and his accomplice, Synnott Brennan (21), from Sean O'Casey Avenue, Dublin 1, both pleaded guilty to robbery on October 22, 2001.
