Man arrested after pedestrian knocked over

A man has been arrested in connection with a pedestrian being knocked over by a car this morning.

Gardaí in Mullingar have taken a man in his late twenties in connection with the incident into custody.

The incident happened at around 2am this morning at St. Michael's park just outside Mullingar.

The man driving the car seriously injured another man in his twenties.

The victim was taken into the intensive care unit in the County Hospital in Tullamore.
