UUP leader David Trimble has told the House of Commons that the IRA apology for Bloody Friday is an effort to pre-empt a newspaper article.

Mr Trimble said during the debate: "This statement says nothing, nothing at all about the recent violence that the IRA has been involved in, nothing about what their future conduct is going to be.
