Fourteen foreign nationals have appeared before Dublin District Court following a Garda swoop on illegal immigrants this morning.

The 11 men and three women were arrested at addresses in Dublin city centre, Tallaght and Rathmines as part of Operation Hyphen.

Most of the men and women range in age from their twenties to their thirties and are from Romania, Poland, Moldovia, Ubekistan and Nigeria.

Some of those arrested had deportation orders against them which they failed to reply to.

Others are here without applying for asylum or holding any legal documentation.

All of them apart from one have been remanded in custody until Thursday next.

Another six people have been brought before Kilmainham District Court.
