Labour says Govt has power to undermineTV rights deal

The Labour Party has claimed that the Government still has the power to order that Ireland’s home football internationals be broadcast on terrestrial television.

Ministers have rejected suggestions that they have such powers, but Labour’s Eamon Gilmore said EU laws on cultural events contradict the Government’s stance.
