Security forces happy with marches to date
As security forces continue to ready themselves in the area around Drumcree for the controversial march today, a leading member of the forces has described the peaceful marches to date as a great success.
The acting Chief Constable of the Police service of Northern Ireland is happy with security measures to date.
“We’ve come through a number of the contentious marches over the last forthnight with remarkable little difficulty," said Mr Colin Crampton.
He is hopeful that the Drumcree march will pass off peacefully today.
However, he did insist that he and his forces are aware that the peak marching season is approaching on July 12 and that they are conscious of the measures needed for the period.
