German woman dies in boating accident

A German woman has died in a boating accident in Co Donegal.

The woman was discovered in the water in Lough Swilly along with a male companion by fishermen who spotted their upturned boat.

The pair were taken from the water and the authorities were called but attempts to revive the woman failed and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

An Aer Corps helicopter was called to the area near Leenane Head and removed the man to hospital. He is reported to be in a comfortable condition.
