New Connacht-Ulster MEP formally appointed

Ireland’s newest MEP has been formally appointed to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Sean O’Neachtain from Spiddal in Co Galway, replaces Pat "The Cope" Gallagher, who is now a Junior Minister after his election to the Dail.

Mr O’Neachtain says he will focus on the specific needs of his Connacht-Ulster constituents.

"I will be promoting the West of Ireland in the European Parliament. I want to ensure the West of Ireland has a proper infrastructure so it can be as competitive a region as any in Ireland."
