Nurses vote for industrial action

Nurses at a Dublin hospital have voted in favour of industrial action in a dispute over staffing cuts.

Management at St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown have withdrawn four staff from the night duty rota. Members of the Irish Nurses Organisation at the hospital are now considering what form of industrial action to take.

The decision to take action based on funding shortages follows closely to announcements from other hospitals in the capital that procedures will have to be cancelled and recuperative stays in hospitals will have to be shortened due to budgetary constraints.
