Trial of new age travellers to go ahead
The trial of new age travellers accused of the murder of a man in Leitrim in 1998 is to go ahead today with just two of the accused.
On Monday, three men pleaded not guilty to the murder but today Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donovan told the jury that the case would now proceed against just two of them.
The case will now proceed against Andrew Gordon Roche (36), with an address in Drumlease, Dromohair, Co. Leitrim and Keith Cooper (25), with an address at Gortimar, Manorhamilton.
They both deny the murder of Elliott Colin Double, otherwise known as Elliott Robertson at Boihy, Co Leitrim on October 6 1998.
On Monday, Martin Francis Barber (33) of Boihy, Manorhamilton had also pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Robertson but the case against him will now not proceed.
The trial is to start later today before Mr Justice O'Donovan and a jury of seven men and five women.
