Ahern calls for dialogue in North

The Taoiseach has said that direct dialogue is essential in defusing tension in flashpoint areas in the North, particularly Belfast.

In the Dail, Bertie Ahern said that the Government is maintaining close contact with parties in the North in an attempt to overcome the latest difficulties in the peace process.
