Jury considers verdict in Ballincollig murder trial

The jury in the trial of a youth accused of the rape and murder of a 22-year-old Cork woman has retired to consider verdicts in the Central Criminal Court this afternoon.

The 18-year-old accused cannot be named for legal reasons. He denies the rape and murder of Ms Rachel Kiely, aged 22, at the Regional Park, Ballincollig, Co Cork on October 26, 2000.

The jury of seven men and five women retired earlier this afternoon after Mr Justice Butler charged the jury on the law and gave a summary of the evidence.
