Man charged in relation to Cork death
A man appeared in Cork District Court today arising out of an incident where another man was fatally injured.
The dead man was Richard Daly, a single construction worker from 12, Abbey View, Buttevant, Co Cork.
William O'Connor, aged 31, with an address at St John's Terrace, Kinsale was charged with assault causing harm to Richard Daly at 80, Tower St Cork, on June 16.
He is represented on free legal aid by Frank Buttimer, solicitor.
Judge Uinsin MacGruairc refused bail and remanded him in custody for a week at Cork District Court.
Det Sgt Gerard O'Mahony objected to bail on the basis of the seriousness of the charge and the fact that further more serious charges might follow, as well as on the basis that a witness in the case told gardai that she was in fear of the defendant.
