Mother of accused gives evidence at murder trial

The mother of an 18-year-old man accused of the rape and murder of Cork woman Rachel Kiely has told his trial that she warned her son that if he ran away after gardai carried out house-to-house inquiries in the case it would look like he had something to do with the murder.

The mother said her son was more upset about getting into trouble for driving his motorbike without tax and insurance.
