A man accused of murdering a young deaf man today denied he intended to rob and murder the victim but admitted assaulting him and searching his pocket.

A man accused of murdering a young deaf man yesterday (Mon) denied he intended to rob and murder the victim but admitted assaulting him and searching his pocket.

When he took the stand in the Central Criminal Court, the accused, Michael Sage admitted that he "scavenged" the pockets of John Carroll as he lay dead or dying but said another man had struck the fatal blows.
