Teenager in hospital after fall

A 13-year-old child is recovering in hospital this morning after he fell from a Martello Tower on Dalkey Island late last night.

The young boy was part of a group of scouts who were staying on the island.

Emergency services and the lifeguard were alerted at around 11 o'clock last night.

The Dun Laoghaire Lifeboat brought the emergency services to the scene of the accident.

The child was unconscious but woke as the lifeboats neared the shore.

He was taken to St Michael's Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.
