Kenny wins FG leadership fight
Fine Gael has named Enda Kenny as its new leader.
Mr Kenny, 51, defeated three other contenders to succeed Michael Noonan, who resigned as party chief soon after the scale of the reverses at the general election last month became clear.
Minutes after being confirmed as the new head of the party at a meeting in Dublin, Mr Kenny - beaten by Mr Noonan in the last leadership election less than two years ago - said the period of mourning for Fine Gael was over and it was time to rebuild.
