Chief of police warns of nightmare situation
The North’s chief of police says that the current violence in Belfast is pushing the province towards a fresh nightmare.
Last night violence erupted in several flashpoint areas and three people were shot in the Short Strand area.
Rival gangs are now regularly rioting overnight in several areas.
The acting Chief Constable, Colin Cramphorn, says that community leaders need to step in before someone is killed.
He insists that they need to use their influence to calm situations in communities.
He stressed that communities could now be "sleepwalking into an abyss".
