Commanders in the North’s police service have given their full support to the force’s new chief constable, Hugh Orde, who was appointed to the job earlier this week.

Mr Orde, a deputy assistant commissioner with the Metropolitan police in London, is currently leading the inquiry into allegations of RUC and British army collusion in the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane in 1989.
