Police advisor rejects unionist claims
The independent advisor overseeing the appointment of the North’s chief constable has denied unionist claims that he didn’t approve of the successful candidate, Huge Orde.
Both unionist members of the interview panel claimed that Dan Crompton said none of the three candidates were suitable for the job.
However, Mr Crompton said he totally supports Mr Orde’s appointment, adding that he will make a chief constable of distinction.
He also slammed the two unionists for going public with details of the confidential interviews, saying it contradicted the rights of the applicants.
