House prices rise by almost 3%

House prices rose 2.9% last month, the highest monthly increase in nearly four years, according to the latest Permanent TSB house price index.

The figures, compiled in association with the Economic and Social Research Institute, also show that house prices rose by a total of 4.9% in the 12 months to April 2002.
