Crucial FG meeting underway at Leinster House

A crucial meeting of Fine Gael’s parliamentary party is underway now at Leinster House.

The party lost 23 TDs in the General Election and is now effectively leaderless with the resignation of Michael Noonan.

Fine Gael TDs, Senators and MEPs are preparing for the Senate elections and discussing the leadership contest.

Former party boss John Bruton is not ruling himself in or out for party leader.

"I really don’t think we should get into that at the moment. There really is so much talent in the Fine Gael party that should be looked at.

"We are all servants of the party and we should be prepared to serve the party in whatever way we can and what we really need now is unity."
