Dennehy, Sinnott battle for final Cork seat
A second recount of the votes in Cork south-central is due to begin this morning after independent candidate Kathy Sinnott’s three-vote victory was overturned in an initial recount yesterday.
Ms Sinnott called the second recount after the first one gave Fianna Fail’s John Dennehy a two-vote advantage.
Meanwhile, a recount of the votes in Cavan-Monaghan is also due to begin this morning, with two Fine Gael candidates battling for the fifth seat.
Seymour Crawford from Monaghan currently leads outgoing TD Andrew Boylan, from Cavan, by 121 votes.
The only other contentious seat will be decided by a recount on Thursday, with independent Mildred Fox currently leading the Labour Party’s Nicky Kelly by 47 votes in Wicklow.
