The pair, believed to be Lithuanian, were arrested on Friday, a day after the two bodies were discovered dumped by the side of the main road from Warrenpoint to Newry.

One of the dead men has been identified as Lithuanian, while the other is thought to also be from a Baltic state.

The two men being questioned in connection with the murders were arrested in Newry.

On Saturday, police were granted a 36-hour extension of the men’s detention period and this was extended again yesterday, giving detectives until 10.30pm to either charge or release the pair.
