FF/PDs go head to head in Galway West

The third seat has been filled in Galway West, with a real battle now underway between Fianna Fail and the PDs for the fifth seat.

As counting enters a second night, a third seat of the five has been filled.

Fine Gael’s Padraic Mc Cormack has been re-elected on the 14th count.

The fourth seat will be taken shortly by Labour’s Micheal D Higgins.

Seats one and two went to outgoing Fianna Fail Deputies Eamon O’Cuiv and Frank Fahey.

However, the fifth seat will be a cliffhanger and is being watched nationally as it is between Fianna Fail’s Senator Margaret Cox and PD Councillor Noel Grealish.
