Officers fired plastic baton rounds during serious overnight rioting in Belfast, police said today.

Police came under fire and petrol bombs were thrown after ā€œserious disorderā€ erupted in the Thistle Court area in the east of the city, a spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.
