Gardaí question man in Dublin stabbing probe

Gardaí were today questioning a man about the murder of a woman who was found with her throat slit in a derelict Dublin flat.

The man went voluntarily to a Garda station and was held for questioning after the woman was found dead in the flat in Ballsbridge, south Dublin, yesterday.

The dead woman’s boyfriend raised the alarm after running to the nearby American Embassy.

It is thought he had been squatting with the woman, who was in her mid-20s and from Galway.

She had been dead for at least a day when her body was discovered.

Meanwhile, the scene was sealed off and forensic officers from the Garda Technical Bureau were conducting an investigation.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body later today by the State Pathologist’s Office.
