Damaged vessel poses pollution threat in Kerry
There is a threat of pollution off the Kerry coast this morning after a vessel has run aground.
Four fishermen were rescued from a 24 metre wooden vessel which got into difficulty at Inish na Bro just north of Inishvickillane in the Blasket Islands.
The four people were rescued from a life raft by a helicopter from Shannon and Valencia life boat service.
However, even after the rescue there is a threat of pollution to the area from the damaged vessel.
There are 16,000 litres of diesel and 20 gallons of heavy lubricant on board.
