Britain warned of Real IRA attack

Britain should be on the alert for a ‘‘spectacular’’ attack by the Real IRA over the next few weeks in revenge for the jailing of three terrorists following a daring sting operation, a former secret agent warned today.

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations were a possible target for terror bosses wanting to prove that the imprisonment of their men had not destroyed their ability to act, warned Willie Carling, who spent 15 years as an undercover MI5 agent within the Provisional IRA.
