Irish ATGWU secretary sacked
Mick O’Reilly, the Irish secretary of the ATGWU, has reportedly been dismissed by the union’s head office in Britain.
Mr O’Reilly said he only learned of his fate from the media this evening and has not been contacted
by British officials.
He said he plans to appeal the decision to the ATGWU’s appeal committee in London.
“I’m 40 years in the union in Ireland,” he said.
“I’m 24 years as a full-time officer and no committee of the union in Ireland anywhere (and we have hundreds of branches) has made any complaint about me. The only person who appears to want to dismiss me is the general secretary, Bill Morris.”
