Tanaiste bets €20 on PDs being returned to power

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has started her party’s general election campaign by placing a €20 bet on the Progressive Democrats being returned to power with eight Dail seats.

Speaking in Dublin, Ms Harney also defended the Taoiseach’s decision to announce the dissolution of the Dail to an empty chamber late last night.
