Ahern and Trimble to discuss IRA revelations
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is expected to hold talks with the North’s First Minister, David Trimble, today in an effort to stave off a potential new crisis in the Irish peace process.
Mr Trimble has already asked the British Government to review the IRA’s ceasefire after a series of recent revelations about the republican movement.
The potential crisis was compounded yesterday when the US House of Representatives began an investigation into the IRA’s alleged role in a "global terror network"involving co-operation between Colombian, Basque, Iranian and Irish rebels.
