Sinn Fein has labelled this morning’s arrest of a senior Republican in Co Tyrone as a stunt.

The Republican was arrested at his home in Dungannon, Co Tyrone in connection with the murder of 51-year-old Catholic taxi driver, Barry McDonald.

Mr McDonald was shot in his cab at Donaghmore last Wednesday.

The dead man’s family have blamed the Provisional IRA for his death, claiming he was involved in a row with a member of the organisation a week before his death.

The Mayor of Dungannon, Francie Molloy, says that this morning’s arrest is part of an on-going police campaign to demonise Republicans.
