Pier-D extension for airport axed

Aer Rianta is reported to be in the process of axing plans for Pier D.

The development was proposed after September 11th. It is believed that the airport development plans are being dumped in exchange for a landing facility designed for the fast turnaround and low budget airlines at Dublin airport.

It now looks unlikely that the site originally proposed for Pier D will be used.

It is believed that the development would lack space to segregate incoming and outgoing passengers. In addition, the facility would not have enough room to facilitate immigration control.
