A new relief road around the Co Meath village of Enfield will be officially opened this morning.

The 2.5km road, which cost €11m, is expected to reduce journey times for those travelling through Enfield by up to 30 minutes.

20,000 vehicles use the N4 through Enfield every day and local councillor and businessman Willie Carey said he hopes the new road will reduce this traffic by at least 50%.
