Molloy due to answer criticism
Junior Environment Minister Bobby Molloy is expected to respond shortly to criticism by a High Court judge in relation to "a totally improper approach" made during a trial.
A spokesperson for the Minister said he is reflecting on today's comments from Judge Philip O'Sullivan and will make a full statement later.
The judge made his remarks when passing sentence against 49-year-old Patrick Naughton from Camus, Co Galway.
He said a woman purporting to be ringing on behalf of the Minister asked him if he could be asked contacted at home. Judge O'Sullivan said he refused the request, adding that he was very surprised that a government minister would make such an approach.
