Plans are being introduced to monitor the ability of doctors to carry out operations and their general practice.

The system being planned will make doctors renew their licence regularly. The plan was announced during the Irish Medical Organisation’s annual conference.

Fergal Bowers from Irish Health Dot Com compared the new regulations to the NCT test for automobiles. He hopes it will improve doctor-patient trust.
