Labour calls for publication of Ansbacher report
The Labour Party is calling for the publication of the investigation into the Ansbacher affair.
Reports today suggest the report carried out by High Court inspectors may be blocked by legal challenges.
A spokesperson for the Tanaiste said it was a matter for the courts, not the Government, to decide when to publish it.
But Labour’s Pat Rabbitte said Mary Harney should push for its publication.
"It’s now some years since the Tanaiste spoke publicly of her shock at what she had already learned about the unacceptable activities of a number of wealthy and influential individuals and her determination to ensure the truth came out," he said,
He continued: "Despite the plethora of inquiries established by Mary Harney, the public is no wiser. It’s now time to allow us all see the findings in relation to Ansbacher accounts, which are reported to have so shocked the Tanaiste."
