The Irish Medical Organisation is expected to call for a ban on the advertising of alcohol and a rise in taxes on alcohol when delegates meet for its annual conference in Killarney, Co Kerry, today.

The IMO believes these measures will reduce the level of alcohol-related violence in Ireland, which currently puts great strain on the health services.
