No review planned for Ugandan aid

Ireland will not be reviewing its aid programme for Uganda following the murder of Fr Declan O'Toole last week, according to Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Liz O'Donnell.

Speaking at the launch of the Ireland Aid Review, she said it would be wrong to remove money from a poor country because of evidence of corruption.

The Government had expressed 'grave concerns' over the speedy trial and execution of the soldiers who Ugandan authorities deemed responsible for the incident.

Uganda is a priority aid country for Ireland.
