Two arrested after murder of Irish missionary
Two members of the Ugandan army have been arrested in relation to the murder of a Co Galway-born missionary last Thursday.
Father Declan O’Toole, 31, his driver and another employee were all killed when gunmen attacked their vehicle.
The two soldiers were arrested earlier today and will be tried by a military tribunal as soon as a full investigation has been carried out.
The Irish missionary was previously attacked on the March 10 by government troops after he complained that some soldiers used excessive force against residents of his parish.
Some members of his parish were sent out to disarm cattle raiders but were attacked by the army troops.
Father O’Toole initially fled to the capital city, Kampala, but he returned when the government and the Irish embassy reassured him that it was safe to return.
