Two gardai hurt in foiled robbery

Two gardai are recovering after being injured during a bungled robbery in Dublin city centre last night.

They tackled a pair of armed raiders who held up an off-licence just off the South Circular Road.

It happened at a premises on St Alban’s Road around 9.20pm when the men, armed with a handgun and screwdriver, burst in and held up terrified staff.

Two gardai intercepted the raiders as they attempted to steal the takings. Both have been released from hospital.
