Gardai arrest man in connection with Waterford murders

Gardai in Cork have arrested a man in Dungarvan in connection with two murders following the discovery of bodies just four miles apart in Co Waterford.

One victim, a woman in her fifties, is understood to be a former employee of the man whose body was found in the early hours of this morning outside a pub.

The man, also in his fifties, is believed to have been shot and was found outside a pub about 4am. The woman is believed to have been stabbed.

The two bodies were found in the border area between East Cork and West Waterford.

Youghal gardai, whose jurisdiction spreads into West Waterford, are investigating the murders and the scene has been closed off for further examination.

The State Pathologist is expected to examine the scene later today.
