The Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland says he has no doubt a further act of decommissioning is being considered by the republican movement, but that he has no concrete intelligence that such a move is imminent.

Ronnie Flanagan was speaking at a public session of the Police Board in Belfast.

Referring to recent press reports that the IRA will make a second act of decommissioning in time to influence the general election, Flanagan said he thought that was possible but he didn’t know when it would happen.

He also said dissident republicans continue to pose a major security threat.
