School contingency plans continuing to work well

School managers have said contingency plans are continuing to work well today after the Association of Secondary Teachers withdrew from supervision and substitution duties yesterday.

Three schools in Dublin and one in Roscommon were unable to facilitate all their pupils today, but no disruptions were reported at any of Ireland’s 530 other secondary schools.

All of the schools have hired replacements for the ASTI members refusing to engage in voluntary duties as part of their long-running campaign for a 30% pay rise.
