A new survey has found that two-thirds of Irish towns are heavily or very heavily littered.

The survey by the Irish Business Against Litter group found that Wexford town is the least littered urban area in Ireland, with a rating of 85 points out of 100.

Tuam in Co Galway and the Liberties area of Dublin city were the worst litter offenders, with ratings of 43 and 40 respectively.

The survey also found that towns in the North are significantly cleaner than their southern counterparts, with an average rating of 78 compared to 59 in the Republic.
