North: Policeman knocked down by stolen car

A member of the North’s police service was knocked down by a stolen car in South Belfast earlier today.

The driver of the stolen vehicle drove onto the pavement to avoid a stinger device set up to stop the car. He collided with the officer before speeding away.

The incident occurred on Lisburn Road on the approach to the city centre.

The car was finally stopped on the Donegal Road and three arrests were made.

The wounded policeman is being treated in hospital for head and leg injuries.
