Three former Ulster Bank employees have been remanded in custody in court in Belfast today after being charged with stealing €1.2m of old banknotes that were due for incineration.

Three former Ulster Bank employees have been remanded in custody in court in Belfast today after being charged with stealing €1.2m of old banknotes that were due for incineration.

There were three charges against the three men - stealing €214,000 last Thursday, stealing a total of €1.2m between November 2001 and February 21, 2002 from the Ulster Bank in Waring Street, Belfast.

They are also charged with money laundering, by attempting to conceal the stolen cash using a series of bank and building society accounts.
